Lately I’ve been finding myself listening to a variety of music.  Artists from John Mayer to Boney James.  Genres from Alternative Pop to Smooth Jazz.  And I must admit, music is a wonderful art.

I’m interested in getting into the Art so I signed up for Piano 1.  I hear if you can play and learn the keys on the piano you can pretty much play and understand any instrument and music piece.

When I think of music, I think of something beautiful.  I know that’s pretty vague but when you really listen to the tone or the lyrics of the song, you think “wow, what he/she said was very creative.” or other times you’d think, “He really said that, that was stupid.”; I think that when I listen to Soulja Boy for some reason.  But what you’ll also notice is that artist are very passionate about the industry, every artist.  Even Soulja Boy.  That lets you know that if you want to get started in this industry you have to have appeal; swag if  you will.  You have to come correct and stand behind your music 100%, no mistakes.

I know there’s up and coming musicians out there, and that’s mainly the reason for this blog.  I want to encourage you to stand for what you believe in, that being your music.  If you’re a drummer, be the best drummer you could possibly be.  If you’re a singer, sing the best you possibly can.  Talent is definitely out there, and record companies are constantly looking for new talent.  Just because you don’t make it on the mainstream market doesn’t mean you’re not good, that just means you have another level to reach for.  Because the stars on TV had to come from somewhere and most likely they were in the same position you’re in now.  Just remember, your time is coming.

A few days ago my Automotive Tech. class and I visited the NHRA Motorsports Museum.  This is indeed a wonderful place to go, especially if your into classic cars, drag racing, and even motorcycles.  What a wonderful investment Wally Parks made.

This past Tuesday we inaugurated President Barack H. Obama.  This is the man that campaigned with the creeds of “Change” and “Hope”.

Already I see Change, many doors have been opened for me as an individual and African Americans as a whole.  I believe Barack Obama carries on the legacy Dr. King left behind and has picked up Dr. King’s dream.  We are becoming a better America everyday and the inauguration of our 44th president proved that.

Already President Obama has given us Hope.  Take a look at our economy, we’re not doing too good.  But yet, you and I are still going out and buying things that isn’t a necessity.  We’re still living our lavish lives though we got laid off 2 months ago.  It’s not luck we’re riding on, we have Hope that at the end of the month, there’s more money than there is month if you know what I’m saying…

We’re already making progress.  We’re closing Guantanamo Bay, we’re pulling out of Iraq and into Afghanistan to find the group that attacked our New York Twin Towers.

For me, January 20, 2009 is a day that I’ll never forget. A man of color is officially in the white house; Commander and Chief. We are in for an overdue change and I’m looking forward to see what Mr. Obama has planned for us as a Nation… Not the red states, Not the Blue states, but the United States of America.

I just wanted to wish all of my blog “followers” a Wonderful & Safe Holiday Season.  Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa or whatever, I pray that you are blessed and are happy and in the holiday spirit.

If there’s something going on in your life that’s hindering you from enjoying this season, I pray that you put the differences aside and take some time for yourself!  That’s also a problem, we don’t take enough “Me Time,” that’s the reason why we get stressed out because we take the situation the wrong way.  We try to take things into our own hands, and that’s not how it’s meant to be. Pray about it, and don’t stop praying. God knows your mind and your heart; trust me.

All I’m saying is that life is TOOOOOOOOOO short for us to be worried about the little things, and some of the big things.  Life your life like there’s no tomorrow, because you don’t know your last day.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa; Happy Holidays to all of you.  My prayer is that God continues to bless you.

What are you thankful for?

The Importance of Vision… It’s important to have a vision because it’s important to know where you plan to down the road.  I can tell you my visions now, one is for my church, I have a vision that we will be moving campuses, that we’re going to make a complete turn around, that one day we’ll be up there with other renowned church.  Not so much as being famous, but being know for saving lives, Letting the world know that there is a God, and baptizing believers.  And the most important part, seeing the people applying the message/sermon to their life so they can be a better person all around.  Another personal vision of mine is for myself to be successful, Again not to be famous but to be know as a Man that helps his community, help the needy, give advice, and have a family.  If you don’t know VISION is something that I am big on.  I Love things with a plan to me that’s my security because I can consult it anytime I run into an obstacle.

I have a vision and I hope you have one too or at least starting your vision.  I want us as a people to be successful because we are smart, we do have talent, and it can be used.  No need for being greedy, sometimes volunteering your talents will go a long way, sometimes it’s appreciated more and who doesn’t love being appreciated???

And the Lord answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.
